EDEN
PROJECT

WHCA took
23 senior citizens and 4 carers on a three day trip to Cornwall
to visit the Eden Project. We went on the 26th March and returned
on the 28th March 2007. The party included people from West Hampstead
Community Association, Kingsgate Community Centre, Feltham Community
Association, Church and West Hampstead public.
We had
a great driver Mike and our coach hired from our excellent supplier:
Club Cantabrica Coach/Air Holidays Ltd. Tel: 01923 247444 - speak
to Karen.
We stayed
at a great hotel in Newquay with a great nutty/helpful/friendly
bunch of staff providing great entertainment: The Trevone Hotel.

The whole
project was funded by the National Lottery grant section "Awards
for all" and West Hampstead Community Association management/organisation.
We send

On the
way back we were able to drop into the Ottery Nurseries at Otter
St. Mary's just outside Honiton. Taking this route we were able
to later see Stonehenge.
A fabulous
time was had by everyone. We are producing picture CD's and Movie
DVD's and below start a photo library:

Community
Development - Partnership Working 2005 - 2007
In 2005 the following
partnership programmes/developments were pursued:
1. Real Resources consortium
1.1 Real Resources is a consortium company formed by 4 Kilburn and
West Hampstead Community Associations as a charity trading arm to
provide shared resources and development for the whole area of benefit.
This is a primary community development partnership for Kilburn
and West Hampstead communities. It also supports the Kilburn and
West Hampstead Neighbourhood Partnership and has provided resources
for workers and Neighbourhood Development plans and financial management.
The Directors/Managers of each partner and a member of each Board
of Trustees/Directors meet on a regular basis to manage the consortium
affairs of Real Resources. The membership comprises: Abbey Community
Centre, Kingsgate Community Centre, Sidings Community Centre, West
Hampstead Community Association.
2. Voluntary Sector Unit (now Culture and Environment)
1.1 Continuous involvement in advocacy for community development
enhancement, funding, premises leasing/management, etc.
3. Voluntary Action Camden
3.1 Continuous involvement in all matters relating to VAC and particularly
Community Associations Network matters. Involvement with committees
on LLA, LSP.
4. Community Matters
4.1 Community Matters is the National Federation of Community Organisations.
WHCA Manager is a member of the Law Monitoring Group (Comprising
representatives from across the voluntary and community sector)
dealing with issues of research/representation/advocacy on leagal
matters affecting the sectors. WHCA is an active member of it's
National Association attending annual 3 day conference/AGM each
September.
4.2 Pilot project for introduction of "VISIBLE" (the new
model of quality assurance).
5. Neighbourhood Safety
5.1 Representation on community policing Neighbourhood Safety partnerships.
Provision of resources for public meetings/consultation.
6. UK Online
6.1 Active UK online service provider. Active participant in UK
online partnership meetings and development programmes.
7. Age Concern
7.1 Partnership consultation on needs provision for older people
in West Hampstead.
8. Home Office and Prime Minister's Office
8.1 On-going programme of consultation/questionnaire returns in
regard to community development and community sector organisations.
9. Surestart
9.1 Partnership with Surestart (involvement with area committee).
Funded development programme for extension of Parent Toddler Provisions
at WHCA.
10. Charity Trusts
10.1 WHCA has entered into many project partnerships with charity
trusts e.g. Hampstead Wells and Campden Trust, Zephyr Trust, BBC
Children in Need Trust, Groundforce Camden, New Opportunities Fund,
Awards for All, Community Fund, LBC Play, LBC Education, Univedrsity
for Industry/BIG, etc.
11. Community Organisations
11.1 WHCA is in partnership programmes with: Feltham Community Association,
Watford Local Authority and Community Centres, Nottingham Local
Authority and Community Centres.
12. Jester Festival
12.1 WHCA now manages
the Annual Jester Festival (the oldest Festival in Camden). In this
it manages a large consortium of voluntary/community sector organisations,
agencies and local business to provide a community festival.
13. PIP Project
13.1 WHCA Manager took
part in the pilot "Partnership Improvement Programme"
sponsored by the Improvement & Development Agency & researched
by Centre for Vountary Action and Research.
HARVEST
FESTIVAL
Each year Mulberry House,
St. Christophers and other local schools collect food donations
from children and families (for which we always thank them). WHCA
then acts as distributor of food parcels to the elderly, infirm,
disabled and social needy locally. For next year please advise us
of any such people you know to add to our list.
FORTUNE
GREEN SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD
WHCA
is a member of the local panel and we invite you to use us as your
contact with safer neighbourhood action.
