PUBLIC

NOTICE

WHCA went into voluntary

liquidation on 19th May 2008.

Liquidation was necessary but removal of service provision was not. Camden could have supported a request for a transfer of undertakings to a newly formed community organisation for seamless continuity of services. They chose to see the end of services and the redundancy of long service professional and committed staff and volunteers.

We leave this website for

the moment so that it can be seen what has been lost to the community and nationally.

Staff & Trustees wish to send a message to the community to say we have been proud to serve you and provide so many needed services. After a major photocopier scam, finally impacting in a devastating way on our finances, we had no chance of survival. Our desire to continue through another organisation and a TUPE (transfer of undertakings) was not supported.

We send you our best wishes for the future and encourage people in the community to come forward and rebuild a community association on the good 36 years experience of WHCA, the commitment and hard work of it's staff, trustees, volunteers and members. On your behalf we thank them all - they did good.

Please Note - all WHCA Email addresses are no longer functional, the telephone numbers are also no longer functional for the purposes of contacting WHCA, and the property addresses are no longer those registered to WHCA. All properties are reverting to the landlord London Borough of Camden.

West Hampstead Community Association along with the three other community centres in West Hampstead and Kilburn established a consortium charity to jointly co-ordinate community anchor activities. The charity is Real Resources.

We have produced a joint brochure and you can download this from the website realresources.org:

VISIT FROM THE OFFICE OF THIRD SECTOR AND CABINET OFFICE - 13th February 2007

WHCA was one of three "Community Anchors" visited by Campbell Robb, Director General,

Office of the Third Sector. This was a great opportunity to talk about major problems facing the community sector i.e., Interpretations of Commissioning, non use by Local Authorities of discretionary powers under General Disposal Consent and other legislation

and implementation of commercial market rents. It was also an opportunity to talk about the positive impact of UK online in community centres. It was also an opportunity to show

the diversity of services provided by a community association community anchor.

Pictured below Cambell Robb together with Annie Cooper (Cabinet Office), Rachel Armstrong (Office of Third Sector), Steve Wyler (Director Development Trusts Association), David Tyler (National Director Community Matters), Bec Clarkson (Community Alliance).
